We are happy to announce Sana’s latest product release for Microsoft Dynamics GP. It offers three new features: online invoice payment, item attributes and sales statistics.
What Are the Best New Features?
Matthijs van Arenthals, Product Manager at Sana, is proud of the results his team has achieved with this release: “We worked on it for about 4 months, and are really excited that we could add so many cool new features in such a short amount of time.”
Which new features offer the most added value for customers? According to van Arenthals, “Online invoice payment is fantastic for our customers, because it adds the most value. It allows their customers to pay their invoices at their convenience, which in turn reduces admin work for our customers.”
His personal favorite new feature is the addition of item attributes. “I really like the PIM feature,” says van Arenthals, “because it’s something entirely new that GP couldn’t do before. We were able to fill a gap with Sana. We don’t normally add functionality to the ERP, but we had greatly diminished functionality in the web store because of it, so we made an exception.
“GP web stores used to look a bit bland without this feature, but now our customers will be able to enrich their web stores with more product data. It allows our customers and their customers to easily find the products they’re looking for.
“ERP systems are meant for accountancy, so they’re traditionally not built for the purpose of e-commerce. It simply wasn’t equipped with the functionality, so we built it. This is a streamlined, uniform solution for Dynamics GP customers to benefit from product fields.”

Online Invoice Payment
Online invoice payment was the most highly requested feature of this release. Merchants can now accept customer payments on open invoices directly from their Sana web store, and business customers can pay multiple outstanding invoices at the same time online.
Online open invoice payments are seamlessly integrated with the “Sales” and “Financial” modules in Microsoft Dynamics GP, which means that paying invoices online saves time and decreases the likelihood of human error by your account payable representatives.
Item Attributes (PIM)
When customers search for a product, they are often looking for particular specifications, such as size, color, brand or model year. In Sana for Dynamics GP, you can now use product specifications to search for a product, filter and sort the products, and display them on the product pages.
Dynamics GP does not locally offer many item fields for product specifications. As such, the Sana product team has implemented our own feature called “Item Attributes” that you can use to add any product specification you like. By providing a more detailed spec list, your customers are able to find what they are looking for faster, and without additional assistance from a representative.
Customer Sales Statistics
Sales statistics can be used to identify your most profitable customers. Once you know who these customers are, you just need to find ways to keep them happy and bring in more people like them.
Thanks to this new feature, you will no longer need to make sales forecasts based on guesswork. Microsoft Dynamics GP already calculates detailed sales statistics for each customer; these reports include information about total orders, total quotes, total outstanding order amount, total outstanding invoice amount as well as profits, order returns, discounted amounts, etc. per customer within a specific time period. With this Sana Commerce feature, you can now view and utilize your customers’ sales statistics directly in Sana Admin.
In combination with pricing and discounts available in Microsoft Dynamics GP, customer segments and e-mail marketing services like MailChimp and Dotmailer, you can show your best customers how deeply you appreciate their business and loyalty. To build and deepen relationships with your customers — either individually or based on customer segments — you can now easily offer discounts and promotions. Just send them a personalized e-mail via your integrated online marketing service, or create customer-specific content in your web store using customer segments.
Besides the three new features, this Sana release also offers new end points for testing the web services. Browsing to the Sana Commerce web service endpoint now confirms functioning of the web services if Sana is installed correctly.
