Launching a B2B webstore is a milestone.
But it's not the finish line.

The organizations that get the most out of their digital commerce investment are the ones that treat launch as the starting point of a continuous improvement journey — not a project to be closed out. They set clear goals. They track the right metrics. They know which capabilities to activate next and why. And they can show stakeholders, in concrete terms, that the investment is paying off.

That's what a success plan makes possible. And for most ecommerce teams, it's still the missing piece.

What is a success plan, and
why does it matter?

A success plan is a structured framework that connects your digital commerce goals to the actions and metrics that drive them. At its core, it answers three questions:

  1. Where do we want to go? What does digital success look like for our business — more online orders, higher platform adoption, stronger buyer loyalty
  2. How do we get there? Which capabilities, initiatives, and improvements will move the needle most?
  3. How do we know we're making progress? What KPIs are we tracking, and are we hitting our targets?

Without this structure, digital commerce initiatives tend to drift. Features go underutilized. Progress is hard to measure. Stakeholder buy-in erodes because the value of the platform is difficult to articulate. Teams end up reactive, responding to problems rather than systematically building toward outcomes.

A good success plan turns that dynamic around. It creates alignment across your team, a clear sense of priority, and a shared language for talking about digital growth — both internally and with your ecommerce partner.

The challenge of maintaining
a success plan in practice

The concept is straightforward. The execution is where most teams run into difficulty.

Goal-setting happens in a conversation with a customer success manager and gets documented in a slide deck that lives in someone's downloads folder. KPI tracking moves to a spreadsheet that isn't updated as often as it should be. Feature recommendations come through quarterly reviews, disconnected from the day-to-day work of managing the platform. Progress is hard to visualize, harder to communicate, and almost impossible to tie directly back to specific actions taken.

The success plan exists, but only in theory. In practice, it's fragmented across tools, conversations, and calendars. When it's not embedded in how you actually work, it stops driving behavior.

Bringing the success plan
into the platform

This is the problem the Success Plan Widget is designed to solve.

Built directly into the Commerce Console, the Success Plan Widget brings your goals, KPI tracking, and recommended actions together in one place — inside the platform where your team already works. Instead of managing your digital growth strategy across external tools and offline conversations, you have a structured, always-accessible framework for driving and demonstrating continuous improvement.

  1. Choose a Success Track

Success Tracks are structured growth paths built around specific business outcomes. Three tracks are available at launch:

    • Adopt and Learn

Focused on ensuring your buyers adopt your web store

    • Drive Value Faster

Focused on accelerating feature activation and time-to-impact

    • Drive Customer Loyalty

Focused on improving buyer engagement and strengthening long-term relationships

Each track is designed to meet you where you are in your digital maturity journey and guide you toward the next stage.

  2. Set a measurable KPI target

Once you've chosen a track, you define a KPI goal. This is a specific target and timeline that reflects what success looks like for your business. It creates a shared reference point for your team and gives stakeholders something concrete to align around.

  3. Track progress in real time

KPI progress is visualized directly within the widget, so you can see at a glance how your digital initiatives are translating into outcomes. No exports, no external dashboards, no waiting for a quarterly review to understand where you stand.

  4. Take guided action

The widget surfaces recommended actions that highlight the Sana Commerce Cloud capabilities most relevant to your current goal. Each suggestion links directly to the relevant configuration page, so moving from insight to implementation is a matter of clicks.

Getting started

The Success Plan Widget is available to all Sana Commerce Cloud customers as a default widget in the Commerce Console, no additional setup required.

  1. Open the Commerce Console in Sana Admin to find the Success Plan Widget on your dashboard.
  2. Select a Success Track that aligns with your current business priorities.
  3. Set your KPI goal by defining a target value and completion date.
  4. Review your recommended actions and follow the deep links to configure the relevant features.
  5. Monitor your progress directly in the widget as your initiatives take effect.

A more structured path to
digital growth

The most successful ecommerce operations are not the ones that launched fastest. They are the ones that kept improving — systematically, with a clear sense of where they were headed and how they were going to get there.

A success plan is what makes that possible. And now, it lives right inside your Commerce Console.
